JOB TITLE: Club and Community Development Officer (North West)
HOURS: 37 hours per week
RESPONSIBLE TO: Club Development Team Leader
LOCATION: Home based, living within distance of – Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, West Midlands, Merseyside, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire.
DURATION: This post is on a fixed term basis until March 31st, 2022, beyond which will be subject to confirmation of funding.
The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) is an organisation created to lead on the development of the sport of bowls through clubs, counties, and the community. Working in partnership with Bowls England, the English Indoor Bowling Association, British Crown Green Bowling Association and Disability Bowls England, the BDA aims to sustain and grow participation at the grassroots level of the sport.
With over 5,000 clubs across the country, bowls is a popular sport with low barriers to entry and opportunities to participate throughout the year. It is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally through to elite competition.
The organisation is now entering a period of exciting change as it looks towards the future and developing the sport with a new BDA strategy and vision;
‘To place bowls at the heart of every community as an accessible sport for all.’
The BDA is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organised individual to support the delivery of the Club Development Programme and the wider Club Offer as well as the delivery of the Just Bowl programme in community settings.
Your work will provide a key contribution to the BDA’s targets as agreed by Sport England. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the core of the sport by supporting and developing clubs and communities across the identified areas, working with key partners, ensuring both the long-term sustainability of the sport and helping to reinforce and improve physical and mental wellbeing well into later life.
Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of two years’ experience in sports development including working with at a grassroots level. You will need to be a people person with the ability to work alongside and support clubs, communities, and volunteers. Candidates will need to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting landscape.
